The pretty village of Fongrave is just a short stroll from the Château. With only 900 occupants, the village is traditional and un-spoilt. The neighbouring village, Castelmoron, has a small restaurant/bar,  two lovely boulangeries for your croissants and  baguettes plus a number of banks and shops. Just opposite the Château is “La Ferme des Tuileries” and throughout the Summer they sell produce grown at the farm including delicious melons, tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries, apricots, eggs, plums and some locally produced foods. Each Thursday evening during July and August Fongrave comes alive for the FARMERS MARKET. This is an experience not to be missed, you can purchase locally grown and produced food, have it cooked for you while you wait and locals and visitors all dine together ,seated on long tables whilst enjoying an evening of music and dance.
There are plenty of small bastide towns to visit in the area, here are just a few ideas....

A must for any visitor is a trip to Pujols, which is just a short drive away. You enter the town by the impressive archway at the north of the town, the St Nicholas belltower. Pujols is a beautiful town, the medieval houses crowd in on the street, and numerous pretty gardens add to the charm. Pujols has fine views North over Villeneuve-sur-Lot and the Lot River, and South over open countryside.

Just a cycle ride from the Château is the pretty market town of Castelmoron (castle of the marshes). Every Wednesday morning throughout the year you will be able to purchase food grown and produced locally at the busy market. There are shops, including supermarkets, restaurants and cafes and in the summer, many weekend fetes are organised.

A little further away is the Bastide town of Monflanquin. Set on a hilltop, it is very well preserved , and is generally agreed to be one the best, most intact, examples of a bastide town. The busiest days in Monflanquin's annual calendar are the medieval days  when  there is a festival filling the town. There are exhibitions of falconry, people dressed in  traditional costume,  and jousting displays.
