Château Caillac has been rated excellent in 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017

Just wanted to let you know how much we all enjoyed staying in

your chateau,  as I am sure you’ve heard before we didn’t want to come home!!.

The chateau is absolutely stunning , the children thought they were staying in a fairytale castle! We all had a great time and Jon and I enjoyed some fabulous cycling, even made it to the tour de france to cheer on Bradley!!.

Sue & Jon, Somerset. July 2012

“It’s so nice to arrive at a place and your expectations are not only met but exceeded. We’ve been recommending it to everyone.”

Sandra W, Fleet. July 2012

”We had a wonderful week, thank you. The Château was amazing and we want to return next year!  It was even better than the photo's from your website and it was excellently equipped for the large party that we were”.

P Barratt, Bucks. August 2012

“Your Chateau is amazing. We all had such a fantastic holiday, from the youngest at 9 years old, the teenagers and then all the adults. It was so much bigger than the pictures on the website.  Having the river so close, was also good for the fishermen in the party, and the outside entertainment area, was great for very long lunches and very late evening meals.
Kim was great too. We had one of her superb meals, which was just amazing.
I know that if we considered a holiday again with this amount of people, we would definitely be coming back”.

Penny H, Essex. August 2012

“I would be very happy to give a strong recommendation to anyone considering renting the chateau. The location was wonderfully quiet and peaceful, but close enough to the shops to be convenient. The bedrooms were all equally beautiful and the kitchen was very well equipped for cooking for large groups. In general, the house had excellent facilities and we had a lot of fun going on a 14-man bike ride and taking the boats up the river on Sunday to look at the rowers. The chateau would obviously be a lovely place for a family holiday, but as a group aged between 22 and 27 it was the perfect place for a lovely catch-up, endless games of cricket, and glasses of wine on the patio.
Thanks again for a superb holiday”.

E.Reay, Essex. September 2012

We are all back home safely after a most wonderful, relaxing two weeks at your remarkable Chateau. Without exception everyone when asked how the holiday went said 'the best ever’. Thank you both so much for providing us with all the facilities that we could possibly want in such  beautiful surroundings. The River was an amazing addition to the Holiday, especially for the Youngsters; 4 of them swam across and back, even having to ’rescue’ the rescue boat sent out as a precaution!

I have to report that we had a fantastic holiday at Chateau Caillac.  The property was brilliant and a real treat to stay in, if only for 2 short weeks.  I imagine every group will get something different out of the place, but for us, I would say the river was the highlight.  The opportunity to swim in open water (at the right time of day) was a treat and swimming across to the other side and back was a real achievement for the kids.  The opportunity to row and jump of the boat and dive off the ‘pier for the kids (and me) was lovely. It gave a sense of freedom that you just can’t get from a pool.  The safe cycling was also great with daily cycles to St Livrade for bread and occasionally further afield to Clairac and Monflaquin.  There must be scope for promoting the chateau as a triathlon training camp!

Kim was fantastic – very helpful and informative but not at all intrusive. The kitchen was very well equipped and there was nothing we needed that we did not find.  The poolside dining and kitchen area was a great addition.

Watts Family – Hertdfordshire - July 2013

We absolutely loved the chateau and had the most wonderful time, thank you very much.We really were amazed by Chateau Caillac, it is truly beautiful. Location, gardens, furnishings, decor all beautiful and so well equipped.

The pool was excellent and enjoyed by all.

The little bike and trailer were actually ideal for the 4yr old.

Our highlight of the week was definitely the farmers market on Thursday night. This was fantastic with amazing food & wine.

It was fantastic. We were discussing returning in 2015.

First  of all, we had a magical time at Chateau Caillac!! I am still getting emails from our friends who went , thanking me for planning the trip. Everyone had a lovely time and all arrived safely on Saturday. The bedrooms were beautifully decorated. We arrived first and, per Kim's suggestion, we took the new bedroom at the top with views from two sides. So nice. The kitchen was everyone's favorite room I think. Plenty of room for all to help. The location on the river was perfect and we took plenty of pictures of the super moon as it appeared over the water one night.....and the rainbow!...

The Dews Family - USA - June 2013

The 6 weeks at your Chateau were an absolute dream and the perfect place to be based to meet family, friends and explore the region. Absolutely everyone had a wonderful time and not only the kids who visited us keep talking about the special time they had.

The huge square table in the kitchen ended up to be the perfect place for everyone to prepare individual breakfasts – buffet style. We started with setting the table for everyone but that turned out to be far too complicated with everyone having different routines.

But also each room is amazing, you have done such wonderful jobs with attention to detail and different special features in each room. Certainly the toilets in the turrets were conversation points 

Also Kim and Christian were absolute Gems in fixing tiny things in no time and helping with the rooms, bookings and recommendations. That made it much easier as we failed to learn French and some things are hard to bring across with body language...

So many options for sports, relaxing and chilling. Thank you

I stayed at Chateau Caillac with friends for my 50th birthday. Everything about the property is lovely. Fantastic location on the river Lot. Warm swimming pool, poolside kitchen, a very well equipped kitchen with a serious French cooker. The bikes are numerous and all in good condition. The bedrooms are really spacious and individually styled. We were in Renoir, it was huge with beatiful views of the pool and river. There are many picturesque villages within driving distance. Although the Chateau is not in a wine area itself, Buzet, Duras, Marmandais, Bergerac and Cahors are all in easy driving distance. The Chateau is English owned so there is no need to make any overseas payments.

Would you recommend this hotel to a friend? Yes.

The Ellis Family - England - June 2014

"We had a really splendid time at the Chateau – the place was enchanting, the surroundings so peaceful and pretty. We had such fun sitting and having dinner on the terrace, we went for lunch at a wonderful restaurant at Tremolat called Le Vieux Logis and also dinner at Au Bord de la source

( I think that was what it was called from memory) – all wonderful. Thank you very much again for the truly wonderful time we had at Chateau Caillac."

The Tanner Group - Australia - May 2014

"We had a marvellous time, the two young cousins of 5 and 7 will remember that holiday for the rest of their lives as the two older boys played with them a lot and made use of all the facilities. We all thought that the chateau was very well thought out, You had thought of everything and we found and made use of all the wonderful kitchen equipment The rooms worked out well and we all felt very much at home and thought the chateau was quite stunning. It exceeded our expectations. We were very lucky with the weather and personally I think June is the ideal time to spend in France.

I would also like to say how exceptionally helpful you have been. I would not hesitate in recommending you or the chateau - personally I would go back tomorrow, as I know the others would too.

The Thompson Group - England - May 2014

Chateau Caillac is lovely.  A beautiful old house, in a gorgeous position with so much for the boys to do.  And to have such a nice kitchen to work in was a treat . It was also great to have the pool table and the TV room for the boys.  It was very hot, perhaps hotter than normal at that time of the year, but fabulous to have fans in each room.  Thank you for thinking of that.

We loved the bikes too, and our daily trip to fetch the bread and croissants was a scream, with more family coming each time!  And from there we went on to the farm shop.

We enjoyed the village restaurant, and the restaurant at La Parade was superb. We ran out of time, but it would have been lovely to do a boat trip.

The Milne Family -  Gloucestershire  - August 2013

.”..... a lovely week. The chateau was amazing and everyone had a great time, especially the children with so much to do. Thanks and hopefully we'll be back next year.”

Amin Family - June 2012

”Just to let you know that we all had a most wonderful time at Chateau Caillac.   It was everything you promised and more, including amazing weather and a very helpful Rebecca. So much to do that even the teenagers were happy.  Altogether everyone has left with wonderful memories and a wish to return, so many thanks”.

Julia H T, Kirkby. September 2012

“Our holiday was perfect! Thank you so much.We will definitely be hiring the chateau again in the future!”

Simms Family- May 2012

Having just returned from Chateau Caillac, everyone in our party agreed that they had the holiday of a lifetime. The setting for the Chateau is incredibly idyllic and Angela and Steve had thought of every little detail to make our stay perfect.  It is one of the most heavenly spots I have ever stayed at, the only downside was leaving! I cannot wait to return as my 3 year old daughter called it “the princess castle” and this time for hopefully longer than a week.'

Archie Forbes Adam & Family - London - England - 2010

We had a fantastic holiday in your wonderful Chateau. It was certainly the best we have stayed in yet, with so many lovely touches to make our break run smoothly.  We very much hope to return,  I can't wait to go back. We were considering staying on for a third week - it was so relaxing!
Well thank you for allowing us to share your beautiful home, and thank you for the welcoming flowers, wine, etc. It feels strange not to have met you when we have enjoyed your hospitality from afar.

Murray Family – Isle of White - 2010
“A brilliant holiday in super surroundings”.  Everything about it was magical, The long tree lined drive, the turrets and of course the riverside location. This was certainly a perfect place for us. So much space in the gardens and so much to do with the kayak, boat, fishing rods, pool table, ping pong and so much more. As most of the group had kids and the facilities provided were ideal. All in all we had a fantastic time and would recommend Chateau Caillac to anyone considering it.

The Griffen Family 2011
“Beautifully relaxing top quality chateau”. We were blown away by the size of the rooms and the quality of the accommodation. The river was spectacular and we all enjoyed using the rowing boat and kayak provided. We had just the best holiday and wished we could have stayed for 2 weeks rather than one.

Metcalf  Family - Kent 2011

“Relaxing break in a stunning location”.The setting is perfect for a relaxing get away from it all holiday. Many afternoons were spent lazing on the terrace with a glass of local wine. The owners have furnished the chateau tastefully and the en suite bedrooms are spacious and beautifully presented. Our suite had the bathroom in the turret!! The chateau really does have a fairytale feel to it and was so different from any other accommodation we had stayed in we were reluctant to leave to explore the area!!

Manchester 2011

“Wonderful place to stay”.The weather was perfect so we made much use of the pool and covered BBQ area which has a large first rate gas BBQ with a kitchen. We fished and boated on the river, swam in the pool and relaxed in the shade of garden trees and in the Chateau itself. You have to visit fongrave on Thursday evening in summer, people from miles around come for a party. One of our three year olds developed a taste for snails!!
We all had a great time.

Tutt Family - Kent 2011

“Fabulous holiday, beautiful Chateau, grand yet homely.”

Had a wonderful stay at Chateau Caillac. It is stunning yet homely and works as well for young children as teenagers (and grown ups of course!). The location is idyllic next to the River Lot - you can relax and have peace or kayac, swim, cycle and embark on plenty of adventures. Magnificent!

Cambridge 2011
We had an absolutely lovely time, everyone agreed that the Chateau was so spacious and comfortable and we wouldn't change a thing.  There is so much to do and it's so beautiful it’s hard to imagine anywhere that caters so well for every age group.

Nesbitt/Neild family - London - 2010

We arrived back yesterday after an unforgettable week at Chateau Caillac.  I asked my family if they could think of any improvements and they all said that it was perfect.  Everything had been thought of.  We loved the beautiful Chateau and the spacious grounds, the pool was in constant use, we went on bike rides and the tandems provided enormous fun.  We thought the area round the pool was well thought out and it was great to have the kitchen there which we used for barbecues and the paella pan was just perfect. We played table tennis on the one rainy day and the pool table was much in demand. The big attraction proved to be the river.  We had endless fun swimming across, we invented games to jump in and especially the kayak was very popular.

To sum up, we had the most wonderful time.  Everyone enjoyed themselves, our party ranged from 11 to 82.  Kim provided the food for my delayed birthday party so on the last night we just celebrated and had fun. We were all sorry to leave and hope to return and recommend the Chateau to our friends.  It was a perfect holiday. Thank you for making our stay in France such a memorable experience by providing the perfect venue.

The Therlow Family – Surrey – August 2014

Everyone had an amazing time!! Really really fab! Such a stunning place Angela & the most amazing weather! We used the bikes, boat, Kayak, played a game of football, rounders...

Laura – Bordeaux – September 2014

Just a note to say a big thank you for a wonderful stay at Chateau Caillac.

We had a fabulous week, the Chateau is beautiful, what a super property you have.

We loved hearing bits about it's history from Kim and reading about the region.

Our 3 children had a ball and all the extra facilities - bikes, table tennis, Kayak, row boat, tree house, swim pool and pool table were icing on the cake!

It has been one of our best holidays and we profited from nights at Fongrave and Laparade, enjoyed the produce from the Farm shop and local bakers.

The Smith family – Hertfordshire – July 2014

Chateau Caillac completely measured up to our expectations. The whole family ( 17 of us) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We used the boats, the bicycles and the farm shop. On Thursday evening we went to the market which was delightful.

We really appreciated the way you decorated the rooms.

We would like to mention how helpful and untiring Kim was. She made us feel welcome and made herself available at any time.

The children loved living in the real castle. We all did.

The Figaro family – East Sussex – August 2014

We all very much enjoyed our stay at your Chateau. We went to the Thursday market, early as recommended by others and realised that local people were preparing in style with their own tablecloths and cutlery and glasses etc. So ... two of our party went back to the chateau and collected the equivalent and brought it all back in the “pullalong chariot”. We all had a happy time trying different foods but because of the chilly damp weather only half of our party stayed to enjoy the dancing (the middle generation stayed –grandchildren and grandparents went back to the warmth of the Chateau!)

We used the farm shop regularly and enjoyed their fruit, veg, wine. We all used the bikes, tandems and kayak –the 4 year old was very happy to be pulled along in her chariot (the bike and chariot was well used – for picnic and shopping, as well as its intended use for rubbish and recycling!) We found the rowing boat hard work – the kayak was much more popular! If we had similar flat empty roads here in the UK we would be tempted to take up cycling again!

We were very happy with the Chateau and all your provisions for the whole range of ages and interests.

The Hunter family – Kent- August 2014

Thought I would drop you a line or two to let you know that my family and I had the best holiday I think we have ever had when we came to stay at Chateau Caillac.

Kim was fantastic and extremely helpful and we will definitely be returning when availability allows.

Melissa – Cambridge – August 2014

Well what can I say? It was fantastic. We had the most amazing holiday ever at Chateau Caillac. It was as good or even better than our last trip. There are so many good things to say, I'm not sure where to start. Firstly we all felt that in general the place looked so good. The garden, the pond, the patio area etc all seemed so well groomed and perfect. >
Your Welcome Pack was very welcome indeed especially as we didn't get to a supermarket en route and arrived late. The bikes were fantastic and put to use.
We are all talking of a return trip, not sure when that will be due to various family commitments but, we would return every year if possible as a family.

A Galbraith –  June 2015

Our two weeks at your Chateau went all too quickly and we found we could easily have spent the same amount of time again and not tired of the general environment. As you are well aware the location is idyllic for a relaxing break. As you have probably gathered all went well and our friends from Switzerland(who could only pop in for the last 3 days) so enjoyed themselves they are talking of a later holiday with perhaps a couple of families. We made good use of the kayak and boat and two of us swam across the river. Thank you for sharing your French home with us.

Pym Family – June 2015

We were very grateful for the 'Welcome basket' as we hadn't managed to get to the supermarket on the way down.

We appreciated the way that you have equipped the chateau as absolutely everything we needed was supplied. Having a fridge and kitchen facilities at the pool was so handy as most of our time was spent in this area. The decor of the chateau was really nice and I particularly loved the paintings and the drapes, and our granddaughters loved their room as they are both dancers .  The beds were very clean and comfortable.

We all had a really wonderful time and I know we will talk about this holiday for many years to come. The pool and river were well used, Austin (aged 5) loved to swim with his special buoyancy aid in the river alongside his Dad and cousins . One of my grandsons (Bradley who is 8) loved the nature and one day just sat by the pond for hours watching the tadpoles, we had to put the sunshade to protect him from the sun. All the young ones loved the fire bugs and lizards, we therefore have many photographs of them being considerate to nature.

Amongst many other activities, we played rounders on the front lawn and had a pool competition. The ladies loved to relax by the pool and get the occasional soaking from the children, everyone had fun.

Overall , everything was excellent, facilities were just perfect for the whole family and we are all of the same opinion that we would someday hope to  return to the chateau.

Once again many thanks for allowing us the use of your fabulous chateau.

P Barrot – July 2015

We had a wonderful break in France and such happy family memories.  I have had so many lovely phone calls thanking us for their week and saying what a brilliant chateau it was.

C.Cartwright – May 2015

We had an absolutely lovely time thank you and we were all very happy for the week.

We loved the access to the river and all the kids (and grown ups!) spent ages jumping in off the jetty, we loved the pool with the BBQ area and had a lot of fun on the bikes to Fongrave and Castlemoron. The chateau was spacious and clean and we were grateful for the fans at night. Kim was very contactable - she gave us some great advice and the meal she prepared was v enjoyable.

We loved it! We canoed from St Liverade one morning, went to the festival at La Parade and had a ball in Fongrave on their party night but apart from that we stayed put and thoroughly enjoyed the chateau.
